The Cattaraugus County Soil & Water Conservation District's mission is to protect and promote the health, safety and general welfare of the present and future generations of Cattaraugus County residents through the conservation and enhancement of soil, water, air, flora, and fauna through the delivery of science-based technical and educational assistance.
Conservation Districts are local governmental subdivisions established under New York State law to carry out a program for the conservation, use and development of soil, water and related resources.
District involvement includes, but is not limited to, work with landowners, land managers, local government agencies, and other local interests in addressing a broad spectrum of resource concerns: erosion control, flood prevention, water conservation and use, wetlands, ground water, water qualify and quantity, non-point source pollution, forestland protection, wildlife, recreation, waste water management and community development.
